June Camp

 June 4-8             (9am-4pm)                Full-Day: $335           Half-Day: $195

The June camp will be available to students of all ability levels.   Students will learn the core curriculum with an emphasis on visualization, calculation, and comparing multiple positions.

In addition to chess strategies, students will learn strategies for thinking.  How does one's mind really work?  What is the most effective mindset for learning new things (as researched by Dr. Carol Dweck)?  Also, what is sport psychology and how can it help us improve our performance during competition?

Each student will receive a chess workbook designed by Joshua Romero.  The workbook includes 5 sections (opening, middlegame, endgame, tactics, and miscellaneous).  At the end of camp, students may take their workbooks home to continue their chess improvement.

We wouldn't forget the chocolate competition, bughouse, blitz, kriegspiel, and more!  We have some new chess variants designed by our students!  They include Jesse Chess and Lars Chess!

July Camp

 July 23-27           (9am-4pm)                Full-Day: $335           Half-Day: $195

The July camp will be available to all students except pure beginners.  (In other words, participants must know how all the pieces move, how to castle, and what checkmate is.) Students will learn the core curriculum with an emphasis on tournament play and sport psychology

Each student will receive a chess workbook designed by Joshua Romero.  The workbook includes 5 sections (opening, middlegame, endgame, tactics, and miscellaneous).  At the end of camp, students may take their workbooks home to continue their chess improvement.

Since this camp does not include pure beginners, we will be focusing on technology in chess.  This includes information about computer chess, how to set the chess clock (along with a clock setting competition), how to use an online chess database, and chess sites to improve your skills.
